Body
Types
Here
is some info on how to train for the three
different body types.
Endomorph
Endomorphs: soft body, flabby, underdeveloped
muscles, round shaped, trouble losing weight,
generally gain muscle easily.
An
Endomorph's biggest concern is losing fat and
adopting a lifestyle that keeps it off.
Strength training should be done to get a
better muscle to fat ratio and therefore improve
metabolism. An Endomorph should lower calorie
intake (but not starve yourself) and should eat
frequently (5-6) small meals. Sugars, sweets and
junk food should be eliminated from the diet.
Daily activity like fast walking, running,
hiking, etc. is a must for 5 or more times each
week.
Mesomorph
Mesomorphs: athletic, muscular body, rectangular
shaped (hourglass shaped for women), thick skin,
upright posture, gain or lose weight easily,
grow muscle quickly.
A
Mesomorph has naturally a much fitter body but
to maintain it or improve it they should
exercise and diet correctly. Strength
training can be done more often and for
longer sessions then would be good for an
Ectomorph, but you must still be careful not to
overdo it. They gain muscle more easily, but for
you ladies, don't worry this won't happen
suddenly. When you are satisfied with your
muscle size, simply train to maintain it. Stick
to a good healthy diet to keep you lean and
muscular, and watch for any little fat gain.
Enjoy some cardio, but don't overdo it.
Ectomorph
Ectomorphs: fragile, thin, flat chest, delicate
build, young appearance, tall, lightly muscled,
stoop-shouldered, large brain, has trouble
gaining weight, muscle growth takes longer.
An Ectomorph
should focus on gaining lean muscle weight.
Weight training is a MUST.
Weight should be heavy. Diet should be higher in
calories, but good quality foods not junk food,
and you need to eat more often times a day.
Cardio should be kept to a minimum until you are
satisfied with your muscle weight or until you
start seeing some fat.
Bottom Line
The
process for losing body fat and/or gaining lean
muscle weight is the same for everyone
regardless of your body type. Regardless of your
body type, you CAN always get the body you want.
Your
goal should be to look as close as possible to
(or stay looking like) a mesomorph. With the
correct exercise and diet this CAN be possible.
You may have to work a bit harder to get there
while a mesomorph looks great naturally, but
even mesomorphs will need some exercise and diet
when they get older to continue looking great.
